Old Habits Die Hard

Even though the Kellys left about a half-century ago and there have been several owners during the years, we still continue to call this old barn a half-mile from our house the Old Kelly Dairy Barn.  I think they would be pleased at how beautiful the little barn looks under those big oak trees which surely have grown tall and strong in the intervening years.  Our oaks are finally turning and they are spectacular.

Isn't it funny how a name will stick with a place?

So pretty! We have lots of places around here that are referred to like that... I know where "one-eyed horse corner" is even though the horse with one eye hasn't been there since my dad was a kid or we told people directions to our house by "turn by Ms Gladys store" -it's been closed for 30 years!

The colour of the old corrugated roof almost matches the spectacular colours of the leaves!

The first house we owned in Maine was named for the woman who had lived there many years and two owners previous. I wondered how one's house owning achieved that status. When our old farm house was on the market after 29 years of our ownership, it was described to many as "the (our) house". Still is, often. It tickles me so much! Your colors are spectacular!

It is fun to see your story and "Spendrift,me"'s version, too. We lived down the rural route from the Bradley farm. They had the farm, we had the little house. When the county came through and finally named our street, they did right... named it Bradly Farm Road.

Hehehe! Funny how some names stick over the years! The oaks are such a pretty colour right now.
