Quick!  Hurry!  Maybe we can escape by swimming fast through this irrigation ditch.  Watch out!  There's a culvert ahead.

Well, we made it through that culvert but the water is drying up fast.  Come on, follow me, we'll ditch this dame yet.

Oh, no, it's the duck paparazzi!  Waddle as fast as you can before she takes our picture again and puts it in the National Enquirer.  I can't let Angelina know that I've been seeing you in secret.  Keep your back turned.  Don't let her see your face!

A Living, Bountiful Desert

The following three pictures are samples of plants available for sale at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens at today's annual plant sale.

Karoo Rose, native to the desert of South and East Africa and the Arabian Penninsula.

The following photographs are samples of various desert trees and flowers which are blooming right now!

I've been bragging about how green our deserts are this year.

If It's Yellow It Must Be Spring!

I have very stunning yellow and white daffodils this year.

This yellow jasmine is sometimes called winter jasmine or primrose jasmine. 

This bush is approximately 40 years old and blooms for just a few days twice a year.

We call these jonquils where I grew up in East Texas.  These particular bulbs came

from my grandmother's farm (now my mom's farm).  They grow pretty much

wild along the side of the road.  As the county graders come through

to grade the roads or the mowers mow the ditches, the bulbs get

displaced and scattered and as a result the roadsides are awash

with these sweet-smelling mini daffodils every spring.

Baseball Babes (Well, Age 6 and Under!)
