Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier
The historic Pleasure Pier opened in Galveston in 1943 and stood until it was destroyed by Hurricane Carla in 1961. It was replaced by an over-the-water hotel, the Flagship, in 1965, which was then demolished by Hurricane Ike in 2008. At that time plans were made to reestablish the Pleasure Pier and the carnival/recreation facility reopened the summer of 2012

good one!
So many details, so much to see! :-)
It looks like such fun! I honestly would think about the next hurricane though and not want to rebuild...I guess I'm not a very adventurous person!
