Barn ~ Grand Cane, Louisiana

Grand Cane, Louisiana, population 191 (2000 census).  This barn sat so close to the roadway and within about 300 feet of the intersection of a four-lane highway, it made me wonder had it perhaps been moved here at some point (obviously when it was a bit younger and able to withstand a journey).

Wonderful image of an old barn that has seen much in its time. You are probably right, because it's hard to imagine a main highway going straight through a farm yard.

Oh my, you're close to my neck of the woods if you were in Grand Cane. We don't travel that way too often, so I can't place this old barn. In the past we went to Shreveport by that route, but now we use the interstate. I miss all the country sights, however.

What a terrific find! What is about an old dilapidated barn that makes our photographer hearts go pitter pat?! Nice capture.

It looks as if it's going to collapse in on itself soon. Makes me feel like shoring it up--but what a job that would be!

How is it still standing? You really should submit some of your barns to Barn Charm. You have found some wonderful ones.

It's probably a case of someone putting a highway through the poor farmer's field.
Hey, do they do voodoo in that neck of the woods?

It doesn't look like it has too much time left to stand!

Love this old barn. What stories it could tell!
